Department for Work & Pensions

Winter fuel payments: help older people keep warm during the winter months.   A payment of up to £300 is automatically paid to pension age claimants in receipt of a qualifying benefit.

Age UK Community Foundation for Calderdale

Older Persons Holiday Fund: Clients (aged 60+) referred to CFfC via Age UK. Grant max £500 per couple or £300 for a single person for a holiday between June and December. No cash given, payment made direct to holiday provider. Priority is given to 1st time applicants / residents of Halifax / in financial hardship or with long term health issues / disabilities.

Handyperson Service: Cost to applicant of material and labour charge. IRO means tested benefit £10/hour otherwise £25/hour. Job less than 30 minutes charge for labour £5.00.
