You don’t have to be living on the street to be homeless. You may be legally classed as homeless if you are sleeping on a friend’s sofa, staying in a hostel, suffering from overcrowding, or other bad conditions.
If you feel unsafe or at risk call the police on 999 in an emergency or 101 for advice and support.
We are a group of agencies all working with or have an interest in homelessness or those who are vulnerably housed, which includes those at risk of losing their home
Representatives from any agency interested in homelessness are welcome to attend this forum. Contact the chair for further information (see button below). The terms of reference are as follows
To provide a forum to exchange information and inform policy relating to homelessness in Calderdale
To consider draft strategic documents and policy initiatives and act as a consultative mechanism for issues being prepared by Calderdale MBC, Health Trusts and other strategic partners
To assist in the delivery of strategic plans in relation to homelessness
To consider the wider impact of new initiatives and legislation, both local and national relating to homelessness
To keep under review the impact of changes to the homelessness environment and assist in providing evidence and research in related matters and to identify areas of concern
To act as a campaigning and awareness-raising forum, acting on behalf of homeless people and agencies working in the sector
To consider the needs of all Calderdale’s communities, including communities distinguished by ethnicity, age and disability
To promote the integration of homelessness issues with wider health and social policy agendas
To promote partnerships with local agencies for the benefit of locally excluded people
